Our Sailing Adventure Home
An Overview
This is a site dedicated to our dream of running off and sailing the seven seas. Well, at least one of
them. Here's more about our boat, what we have planned for our trip, and how you can share in our
adventures.
How We Got Here
It all started when Gary was down-sized by IBM after almost 15 years as a programmer. Wondering
what was next, he attended a boat show and looked at all six sailboats in a sea of powerboats. But one
of these was a catamaran and once he saw the spaciousness and accomodations in the cat, the dream
started to take shape.
So What's this all about?
We decided to put this site together to serve a multitude of purposes. We plan to use it to document
our planning and preparations - the good things and the mistakes.
As an adjunct, we're continually finding things that we need (or would be nice to have). Realize that
the #1 enemy of a catamaran is weight. So everything we take will need to be pared down to an
absolute minimum. So, we're putting together lists of essentials (charts of the Caribbean being a big
need) for anyone who may be wondering what we would like and be able to use when thinking of gift
occasions.
Finally, we have set aside a portion of the site for additional pictures of the items we're selling on
e-bay. Of course, we hope some of those potential buyers will look around and find other items of
interest.
Where are we now?
Spirit has been in a charter program for the past 2 1/2 years. She is now out of that environment and under our direct control
once more. See the "Charter" page if you are interested in going out for a short or longer trip. She is now moored in Miami just
off Biscayne Bay. From this vantage point, we can get to the upper keys or to the Bahamas (Bimini is only 45 miles). We are
beginning the process of outfitting Spirit and getting ourselves ready for a sailing adventure.
UPDATE: The "About Us" section was added to with the latest news and pictures of the continuing journey have been posted.
BIG things are beginning to occur.
